I have drawn Lobelia so many times, each summer as it comes to life I am drawn to it with my sketchbook. I love the deep crimson buds, the sepals and elegant leaf. This was a meditative moment for me as I looked closely at the plant and tried to capture it.

I sat with the historic Peace tree In August and September, in the National Bonsai and Penjing Museum. A Japanese strollyway draws me to this ancient tree. My drawing captures the experience.

This watercolor and ink drawing came to life in my sketchbook in the early days of June/July. She towers over 14 feet tall, just the right height for the Swallowtail butterflies who cover her flowers.
